Fryern Road

The Location

The busy village of Storrington lies at the foot of the South Downs National Park in beautiful Sussex countryside. You can enjoy wonderful scenic walks both on the Downs and over National Trust heath and woodland at St Georges Warren. Fryern Road is just to the north west of the village centre, leading to West Chiltington and this private drive is only a third of a mile from Waitrose in Old Mill Drive. The village has local shops & traders providing good everyday shopping including the Waitrose store (John Lewis Collection Point) and Costa coffee shop. Larger Tesco and Sainsbury's stores are in neighbouring Pulborough and the village also has a Post Office, library, health centre and 4 banks. There's a deli, various restaurants, coffee shops and good community amenities. Leisure activities include golf, various societies, gliding a Parham; and Chanctonbury Leisure Centre/Gym (swimming at Steyning). There is sailing from Chichester & Littlehampton harbours; with horseracing and the renowned Festival of Speed & Revival motorsport events at glorious Goodwood. Further afield, Brighton, Chichester & Horsham have the top High Street shopping names and host theatre productions; plus a variety of cultural events and exhibitions.

The property

Silver Birches enjoys a prime position at the end of a private drive and probably originates from the 1980's, with later updates, creating a roomy, high quality single-level home in glorious gardens of 0.4-0.5 acre. Ideal as a downsizing home, the versatile layout offers excellent "day space" with generous reception rooms and the option of four or five bedrooms depending on your needs. Currently, bedrooms 4 and 5 are both furnished as studio and study rooms. The main bedroom has a tranquil air and a lovely outlook with French doors out to the gardens. It features a dressing/ wardrobe section and a large en-suite bath/shower room. Both bathrooms have been redesigned and refitted. Heating is by gas (radiator system) with double glazing. There is a large integral double garage as well as parking for numerous cars. In all, a spacious and well appointed home in beautiful surroundings.

The gardens

Truly a feature of Silver Birches, the gardens wrap around three sides of the property to provide a wonderful natural vista from virtually every window. Care has been taken over the years to stock the garden with plants that change in colour and texture all year round - there are too many varieties to list. At the southern end of the property, the lawn sweeps round, rising gently behind a sheltered terrace positioned to get the sun (auto-sensor sun blind fitted), with space for eating outside, a rockery, pond and waterfall. Beyond the lawns, flower and herbaceous borders create a colourful backdrop to the fenced front and side boundaries. At the rear there is a charming sitting arbour, with fruit trees, raised beds for growing flowers; and a concealed, organised composting area. To the front there are dappled lawns and silver birches from which the property takes its name. 2 timber outbuildings for tools/machinery. Side pathway & gate. Garden tap, outside lighting.
