Clarke & Charlesworth have won The 2018 British Property Awards for Storrington & Pulborough. Their close-working team performed outstandingly throughout the extensive judging period, which focused on customer service levels.

The British Property Awards provide agents throughout the UK with an invaluable opportunity to compare the service that they provide against their local, regional and national competition. Agents who go that extra mile and provide outstanding levels of customer service are rewarded with their accolade, which acts as a beacon to highlight these attributes to our local marketplace.

The British Property Awards are one of the most inclusive estate agency award providers - They do not charge to enter, which has enabled the award to be structured in a manner that ensures maximum participation, on average judging over 90% of agents that meet the minimum criteria on a local level.

Their team personally mystery shops every estate agent against a set of 25 criteria to obtain a balanced overview of their cutsomer service levels. The judging criteria is both comprehensive and detailed exploring different mediums, scenarios and time periods to ensure that agents have been rigorously and fairly judged.

Robert McLean from The British Property Awards said "Our awards have been specifically designed to be attainable to all agents, removing common barriers to entry, to ensure that we have the most inclusive awards. Our awards has also been designed to remove any opportunity for bias or manipulation. If an agent has been attributed with one of our awards, it is simply down to fantastic customer service levels that they have demonstrated across a prolonged period of time. Winning agents should be proud that their customer service levels provide a benchmark for their local, regional and national competition".

Commentingon the Gold Award, Clive Pightling, Clarke & Charlesworth's Managing Director said "It is good in any industry to know that what you are doing sets you apart from others". He added "Estate agency is ultra-competitive and new customers judge you on the service they recieve or hear about, so this award tells people we achieve a winning standard and I'm proud on behalf of my hard working team".

Clive Pightling

Principle and Managing Director

Growing up with parents who moved home frequently, it was fitting that Clive entered a career in estate agency; working through to become one of the youngest partners in one of the big Surrey agency firms. Clive has enjoyed more than 40 years successful experience in property. As a director with a national estate agency group, he moved to a property in the Downs near Chichester in 1991 and now lives locally. In 2003, he acquired the Clarke & Charlesworth business from the founding partners and many will remember him, then working with his daughter Melanie, building and developing the new Clarke & Charlesworth.

He has a passion for property and people, enjoying close contact at the front line, together with Alfa Romeo classic cars, and music remians another passion. Clive has played guitar in a band since 1995 and his recent new line-upis busy with appearences at a variety of venues & functions locally and further afield. See our links page. Now in the third "generation" of Clarke & Charlesworth, Clive and his enthusiastic team look forward to helping new clients and old friends in the business of finding either their dream home or the ideal buyer.

He says "Fashions & systems in agency change, but we find that good service and innovation never go out of style".

Andrea Wilkinson

Andrea moved from Steyning to London and worked at Great Ormond Street Hospital, returning to this area to bring up her family. She has been working with the team part-time on Saturdays since 2004; in fact since she bought and sold through C & C. With her own curtain and soft furnishing business in Petworth, Andrea is happy if required, and as part of our marketing service, to give clients of Clarke & Charlesworth useful tips on property style and presentation to make a home most welcoming and saleable. In day-to-day contact, she helps put our buyers & sellers at ease by discussing and understanding their home needs and preferences.

I was born and brought up in Cowes on the Isle of Wight, where my first job after leaving college was at the local branch of the Midland Bank in Cowes.
After leaving the Island in 1986 and bringing up two children I found a Saturday position at a well known Estate Agency and stayed seven years working in both the selling and letting side of the business.

For the past twenty two years I have worked at a large local Housing Association as both a Housing Officer and Project Manager working with the large house builders on new build social and affordable homes in Berkshire, Sussex and Kent.
I started with Clarke & Charlesworth since 2017 and am enjoying the change of pace in both work and village life in Storrington.

When not working I am looking after two grandchildren in order to allow my daughter to return to work, part time, as a hospice nurse in Kent.
I enjoy reading, knitting, sewing, walking and holidays, especially taking many cruises to different places which you wouldn’t normally visit eg Russia with my husband of 37 years!

I have been in the Estate Agency business now for 27 years and have worked in Kemp Town, Brighton, Hove, Worthing, Rustington, Chichester and now Storrington, best part of my job is to find someone their dream home, seeing it through to the end and giving usuful interior design ideas.

My personal interests are home decorating as I get more pleasure in buying nice things for home than myself as my home is my ‘Haven’ which I share with my lovely husband and my 4 ½ year old son.  I have previously renovated properties that I owned (2 x flats & 1 x cottage) which I later sold. After my cottage was sold, I went travelling around the world for 9 months on my own and had an amazing time, I met some wonderful interesting people and made lots of friends on the way. I did lots of adventurous things such as a sky dive in New Zealand over Lake Taupo, but the best and most rewarding was the voluntary work in Cambodia, which I did for 10 weeks working in an orphanage and a NGO school teaching English, I also donated money to help them out as I wanted to try and make a difference, which was personal to me.

Before having my son, I used to distress and renovate furniture as a hobby, I also qualified as a massage therapist as I like to make people feel good about themselves and that makes me happy (I enjoy the odd pamper too). In my spare time when I am not taking my little boy to Fishers Farm or the park, I enjoy cooking for my family and friends, visiting Wisley Gardens or taking nice walks/picnics in the countryside with my family.
